Dinner on Easter Sunday

Visiting Montreal for the weekend, looking for a great mid-priced meal (not "Easter dinner") on Sunday night. Had been hoping to go to Chez Roger for BBQ, but, alas, it's closed on Sundays.

So... where should we go instead? Prefer Plateau / Outremont over downtown, but open to anything.

Jolifou was great -- thanks for the recs. Best: crispy, flavourful duck confit with roasted parsnips; lamb; bison tartare; marinated-octopus salad; and especially the deserts (amazing bittersweet chocolate-two-ways; crème brûlé with cardamom, cinammon and star anise; panna cotta; etc.) Less successful: cornish hen with mole sauce.

Jolifou is very nice. I haven't eaten Chez Roger - which is near Cinéma Beaubien - but it looks good: http://www.barroger.com/ We call grilled meats, especially on a spit, barbecue here - I think one would have to specify Southern-US barbecue if that is what one means, though it is not very well known here. Lapin Gourmand gives it a very good write-up: http://lapingourmand.com/lieux-gourma...

Despite what its name might say, Chez Roger BBQ does not serve barbecue. It's a quirky quebecois thing. Refering to roast chicken as BBQ chicken as in Chalet BBQ or St-Hubert BBQ. People here also refer to grilling as barbecue.

If you're in that sector. you should really check out Jolifou. They do Southwest-French fusion and it's really, really good.

BBQ or not, Chez Roger is great (much better than a kick in the Q). Thanks for the Jolifou recommendation. Southwest-French fusion (Bobby Flay meets Jacques Pepin?) sounds interesting -- I think we'll try it.
