Canucks wanting a casual fine dining experience in Manhattan

Staying in Hollis (Queens) New York for Easter Weekend. Where can 4 of us go for good food and wine, fine dining but casual no reservation necessarily needed. Any ideas...love food, smaller establishment preferred....HELP!!

  1. With literally hundreds of restaurants in Manhattan, we need more specifics to help narrow down things down and make appropriate choices. What cuisines do you prefer? When you say "fine dining" are you referring to upscale restaurants? (That does necessarily mean you have to wear a jacket and tie.) What is your per person budget? And tell us if that figure includes alcoholic beverages, tax (nearly 9%) and tip (20%).

    Btw, for places in Queens, if you have not already done so, you should post on the Outer Boroughs board.
