Scalloped Potatoes v. Au Gratin?

  • 3

Hounds - I making one of the above to go with the Easter ham. For some reason a good Irish girl like myself doesn't have a way with potatoes. I found a recipe on Allrecipes.com that I am considering, which is called Scalloped Potatoes, but includes cheese. My mother tells me traditional scalloped potaotes do NOT include cheese, that turns them into Au Gratin potatoes. Can you clear up the mystery, and recommend a recipe for a great baked sliced potato side dish for my ham that includes cheese (cuz I love cheese!). Thanks!

Wow - sorry I missed that. Haven't checked in in a few days. Thanks for the link.

    2. I have used this Epicurious recipe many times and it is delicious with ham. It's has goat cheese, herbes de Provence and heavy cream. It is a real crowd pleaser--I've made it for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas and it went over well with my husband's Irish family--they loved it.
