Cafe Roma

Any Hounders out there know what happened to Cafe Roma on the UWS (Amsterdam Ave.)?

  1. They moved further north on Amsterdam. I'm not sure if it's 102nd or 107th street. They're opening in the new location right after Pesach.

Between Supersol's move and now Roma's, is there going to be anything left for those of us below 86th street? At least we have that chumus place that everyone swears by.

That's a good point, craig. Lots of stuff has migrated uptown. Looks like Ali Baba and Casbah are all that's left between 79th and 86th?

A bit north of 86th is Ozu, on Amsterdam. Good, healthy food.

    2. They will open a week or two after Pesach on Amsterdam between 101 and 102. The new place should be much nicer than the old and more spacious too. And its the rents that are pushing the kosher places higher up, plus the change in residence patterns. Many years ago Lincoln Square was the only happening synagogue and the kosher places were all on 72nd Street. Now there is more going on at OZ and ramat Orah and business is catching up.

      1. I ate at their previous location. I really liked the broccoli pizza. The garlic knots weren't that great, but the pizza was good. They did also have a wide variety of twists and calzones.
