Dives I Have Known (and Loved)
Eveyone has their favorites--what's yours?
I challenge the residents of (and visitors to) The Greater Baltimore Area (let's say from Laurel to Bel Air and everything in between) to reflect and salivate on their greatest Dive Restaurant Moments.
"Dive" shall be defined as: any restaurant where you can manage dinner for 2 with a drink each for less than $50 .
$40 would be better.
$30 would be magnificent.
$20 would be the Platonic Ideal of Dive-dom.
No restrictions on type of food, time of day (got a great brunch Dive?), or ambiance.
Dig deep, people.

My definition of dive would be different than yours. From a price standpoint, I would say certainly Chef Ras Doobie in downtown Baltimore has a combination of great food and low prices. But the place is surpisingly nice inside, so I don't consider it a dive.
Some of my favorite DC dives, on the other hand, amount to little more than squatting.

The Sunset Grille in Annandale. Order the blackened chicken fingers and a beer to start, then whatever special sounds the most misplaced.
Absolutely no ambiance, good food, great beer (defined as cold). The dart board is a nice plus. The sometimes tight parking is not.
