Decent diner/coffee shop near Lincoln Plaza?

Hi,

I'm meeting a friend for a movie at Lincoln Plaza (62 St. & B'way), and we just wanted a decent, not expensive diner for lunch. Does anyone know of any such place near there?
Thanks.

Elizabeth

The Flame Diner on 9th and 59th is, I think, the closest you'll get.

If you're looking for a standard diner than I would suggest the Flame Diner on 59th and 9th or the Olymic Flame on 60th and 10th as well. Nothing amazing, but good, cheap diner food.

(I believe they are the same owners, but I can't confirm that. Although I always liked Olympic Flame a little better.)

How about Bouchon Bakery in the Time Warner Center?

Agree totally on Bouchon Bakery, but last time my husband and I had lunch there it was about $50 by the time we had a drink and coffee, so did not think it fit in the "not expensive" category that Elizabeth was looking for.

Not a NY traditional diner, but there is Pain Quotidian on 66th (or 67th) off Broadway which is nice for lunch, as is Whole Foods in Time Warner Center on 60th Street

There's a Le Pain Quotidien on 65th and I think Broadway. It's a chain, but it's good. There's also a EuroPan (meh, but serviceable), and a small "gourmet market" a few doors down from EuroPan with coffee, sandwiches, some baked goods.

Jsmitty, you're not talking about Cafe Ronda are you?

i believe that the diner jsmitty mentioned is called elite cafe on columbus bet 68th and 69th. it is always crowded there. i've only been once but i thought it was good. i seem to prefer manhattan diner on brdwy and 77th but this is a bit further north than what i think the op wants.
