Drinks/Apps in Rittenhouse or Old City??

This will be a first date. Friday night, 9 or 10ish. Looking for casual yet mid to upscale, trendy, attractive atmosphere, fun, 20 to 30-something type of crowd, good people watching, active yet not too loud for conversation.

I'm looking for a place to mainly have drinks (possibly some appetizers) in Rittenhouse or Old City. I'd like to keep it to those two areas w/ the abundance of nearby nightlife options in case we want to bounce around a bit.

Thanks very much for your help!!

(I've never been, but might the upstairs bar at Friday Saturday Sunday be a good choice? I hear romantic but probably not too bustling/good people watching though..?)

I suggest Tria, which meets all your requirements except that it may be pretty crowded that time on a Friday night, and not very quiet. But it's a great place- check it out beforehand and see what you think.

I'd suggest Snackbar. If you get there around 9, you should probably be able to snag a table with a minimal wait. If not, 20 Manning is right next door and has a cool bar/lounge area. And Friday Saturday Sunday is a block away.

For drinks and apps in Rittenhouse-Loie, Snackbar, Tinto, Barclay Prime, Devon, Alma de Cuba, Mantra, Tria are all excellent

In Old City, Gigi might be what you're looking for. They have a pretty good, extensive appetizer menu, and from what I've seen, they don't get as loud and crazy as some of the other upscale-ish spots in the area.
