McHale's Replacement

SparklieGirl Apr 5, 2007 10:20 AM

We're hitting a show tonight on 45th/8th and want to get dinner beforehand nearby. If McHale's was still around, that's where we'd go, but alas, it is not. A good burger or steak-frites would be ideal, and somewhere that we can arrive around 6:30 p.m. without a terribly long wait is required. Bonus points if the place has good dessert. It doesn't have to be divey or crazy cheap, but it shouldn't be terribly formal either.

They make a damn good burger...I guess you could do a shake for dessert? They don't have fries though (unless that rule changed)...

Island Burger is good but i wouldn't use it as a substitute for McHales, completely different atmosphere. McHales- old, pubby vibe, beers, Island burger is kind of a fast food vibe... your burger comes on a plastic plate! wouldn't go there for pre theater.

I miss McHales all the time :-(
You might want to travel over to 10th Ave. to avoid the crowds. Clinton Grille on 45th and Mr. Biggs on 43rd both have good burgers, good prices, and ready seating.
