Food Halfway between Flagstaff & Phoenix?

Hi,

I'm going to be near Phoenix and want to meet up with my cousins who live in Flagstaff about halfway so that neither of us have to drive 2 hours to the other and back.

Any recommendations?
Thanks so much!
Lisa

The Haunted Hamburger in Jerome is wonderful! Also, Rock Springs Cafe is good as well.

This is way past LisaN's trip but didn't want to start another thread. Try Lone Pine Restaurant (928) 286-9480 65 Pinewood Blvd, Munds Park, AZ 86017. On a road trip filled with strip malls and chain restaurants, the Lone Pine Restaurant was a refreshing respite. Had a great breakfast. Oatmeal had real brown sugar, omelet fluffy, sausage had bite but not greasy. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was real, unpretentious, good -- real good. Worth a detour. It's a bit closer to Phoenix than Flagstaff, but the Rock Springs Cafe in Black Canyon City is a fun place to stop. Good food, and pie.

I ALWAYS go to Rock Springs cafe after a day of snowboarding.

If the meal is breakfast, I'll second this rec. I've never been there for any other meal, so I cannot comment.

It's been years but maybe there is something decent in Jerome? Or Sedona, although that might be too close to Flag?

shugrue's in Sedona is a neat neighborhood diner.

Asylum Restaurant in Jerome in the old insano asylum and it's awesome.

... during a particular time of day, for a particular meal?

If it were lunch I'd be tempted to stop at the cafe/bakery at Arcosanti. Fresh and organic, flavorful, Tuscan-style sandwiches. Plus, you could do a little tour or pick up a Soleri bell as a souvenir.

Other than that there are lots of threads about Prescott & Prescott Valley -- there are some good finds there.
