Does anyone know where to find rabbit meat in Los Angeles??? We're getting desperate!

  1. Not that hard to find. Seen it fresh at Gelsons and frozen at Bristol Farms.

Thanks for that, we've never seen it at Gelsons, but perhaps it's just not at the ones we go to. I'll ask there.

    2. This is a list of game meat processors, but you might just get lucky...

Thanks! This is a great site to know about!

      2. Bristol Farms in South Pasadena has it. Fresh -not frozen.

You can find it fresh and frozen at 99 ranch. If you want UBER fresh, I think Peking Poultry in Chinatown had 'pick your own'.

Wow, that's fresh! I would never have thought to look in Chinatown!

        2. A specialist in the animal flesh of the hip-hopity, creepy-crawler variety:

          Harmony Farms
          2824 Foothill Blvd.
          La Crescenta

Precisely the kind of detail I wanted! The actual location! Thanks!

We just went here, and were SO happy to find this! All kinds of goodies, including Australian lamb, emu, and roo (we lived in Australia for a decade). THANKS!

            2. Bristol Farms, especially the larger locations, usually has it fresh. However, make sure they unwrap the package and rinse it for you. I have purchased rotten rabbits several times. One time the butcher cut it up for me in a laborious fashion and just though it was should stink. And when they have been fresh and not spoiled, the liquid that collects in the plastic wrap can be stinky.

Thanks for that tip--we have been used to getting very fresh rabbit from a breeder. he slaughtered it right there! So we're pretty picky about this kind of thing.
