Steak tartare (pdx)
hey, so I've never tried steak tartare before but have been wanting to for a while. Any rec's for a well prepared steak tartare in Portland? serve appetizer or entre portion?
Carafe has a good one. Paley's also always has it on the menu and uses kobe beef. It's about twice the price and I'm not sure it's better. But I haven't eaten them close enough together.
while not called ST, Alba Osteria, about which I finally posted just today after waiting two years, serves a similar dish without the price tag...called carne cruda, from Alba in Piedmont, Italy. It is simply chopped beef or veal, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, lemon juice and topped with shaved parm...delicious...
