The Stand come to Century City

Have not been but the LA Times Restaurant Journal in the Food section today reported that The Stand, (original location on Ventura Blvd. in Encino) has opened up a second location at 2000 Avenue of the Stars (supposedly behind the location of the new offices of CAA). So they get Craft (yet to open) and The Stand too? Lucky agents going from prime steaks to tube steaks.

  1. The Stand opened about two weeks ago. The food is basically the same as in Encino, and a nice addition to the wasteland that has been the construction site formerly known as the ABC Entertainment Center (and the home of the Swill Hut [TM - JudiAU]). So far, I've had a loaded dog (a deal with chili and chips for $4.30) and a nice burger (not as great a deal) with blue cheese, grilled onions, and decent fries. The big problem for The Stand is that they have not figured out traffic control. You wait in line to reach the counter, order at one of four places, and then stand around, looming over the tables, until the food is ready. In Encino, the line is separated from the seating area better. But hopefully, they will work out the kinks.

    1. I know that it is on Ave. of the Stars. Do you park at the mall, underground? Do they have the monday dollar-dog special?

It is between Avenue of the Stars and Century Park East between the new CAA building and the two towers. The Stand is currently designed as a breakfast/lunch place for the three buildings, and closes at 4 pm (though they say that may change).

There is parking underneath, but it is expensive. The mall is probably cheaper, but you would need to validate by purchasing something there.

I think parking at the mall is free for 3 hours, even without purchase.

I've eaten at the Stand a couple of times -- the homemade potato chips are great, they have terrific coleslaw and I love the unlimited pickles.

FYI, if you park at Century City there's no validation except at the cinema. But, the first three hours are free...should be enough time to get to The Stand and back! (in addition to food, I love shopping, I know my malls!)
