non-chain dinner for a group close to the Toronto Centre for the Arts in North York

I haven't eaten in the neighbourhood for a while, and I'd like to organize a group dinner for 10-15 people before a show being held at the Centre for the Arts in a few weeks. Any type of cuisine would be fine. I can't think of any independent restaurants other than Mezza Notte right now.

Thanks for any of your suggestions!

  1. Are you looking for walking distance or just really close driving distance? If the latter, then I would suggest Wildfire on Yonge, south of York Mills. It's just a few minutes straight south on Yonge. They have a small private area at the front that they cordon off with a velvet curtain. I think it seats right around 15 people.

    1. Xavier's is pretty good - Italian/Continental, located at 3 Elmhurst Ave so within walking distance of the Centre for the Arts

      1. Within walking distance, Thai Bistro is close by and has very good food (one of the best Thai restos in the city, IMHO) . It's very small, however, so I would suggest calling in advance to rsvp. Lokshen Alfredo (??) is also close by and have received good reviews on this board. There are lots of Korean and Iranian options in the area as well.
