Drake Lounge on a Saturday Evening

BK67 Apr 3, 2007 12:13 PM

Planning a small birthday dinner (4 in our party) for my partner for a Saturday evening later this month. We have reservations at Mildred Pierce for 8pm and thought we would meet up at the lounge in the Drake Hotel for a drink (or two) prior. I've never been to the Drake and just wondering how busy it will be in the early evening? I'm concerned about there being a line-up at that time on a Saturday. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Prior to 8PM.. Yeah, the Drake will be fine for drinks.
If not, go across the sidestreet to the Beaconsfield.

Went to the Drake on Saturday evening as planned. No problem with getting a table before 7pm. Really liked the place and will definitely go back. Thanks to all for your feedback.

Was also there Sat. night, but later on in the evening...it' s undergoing renos in the lounge area, so will be interesting to see how it all gets finished up; not too fond of the new changes, but we'll see where they go with it.

It still has the best vibe in the City I feel for drinks and get-togethers.

If you get there before 10 you will be fine and there will be no lineup.

There will be a decent amount of people in the lounge at that time for drinks, but you will not have an issue getting in at all.

Agree with diesta... your timing should be perfect for a civilized cocktail (you'll still be able to hear your friends talk) - and the Drake is definitely worth checking out for a drink (or two).

Absolutely forget trying to cocktail at the Drake on Saturday night... gross. I can't imagine how anyone "sleeps" chez Drake on weekends???
