Delicious Veggie Dumplings In East LA.

Last night a friend took me to a neighbor hood favorite of his...Dumpling Master on Atlantic Blvd. in Monterey Park.

We had Shrimp Fried Rice with Pineapple...while it had lots of egg, it was a little weak on shrimp count...but tasty overall.

The Veggie Pan Fried Dumplings were the real reason we went...as I am a vegetarian, I rarely get to eat Dumplings at Chinese restaurants. These were amazingly plump with a very flavorful stuffing.

They only take cash...and the nearest ATM (which I found out) is two big blocks away at Ralph's.

  1. I've never found the dumplings (pan-fried or boiled) at Dumpling Master to be all that great.

The pan-fried dumpling are reputed, I am told, to be world famous. Apparently people make treks from from SF to LA just to eat there. Urban legend? Hyperbole?

Depends what kind of dumplings you are talking about.

I am generally not a big fan of pan-fried dumplings. But if I were to partake, I think I would opt for the pork pan-fried dumplings at LUSCIOUS DUMPLINGS in San Gabriel.

As for boiled dumplings, my favorite kind, I'm partial to DUMPLING 10053, with DUMPLING HOUSE a close second.

    2. Many of the smaller Chinese restaurants take only cash or have a a minimum purchase requirement for using credit cards. When I go to a new restaurant, I always carry some cash just in case.
