Hortobagy closed?

  • 5

According to Citysearch, this Studio City Hungarian restaurant is closed?! We called this weekend & were told by the person answering the phone that they are not open yet/that the opening had been postponed...

Does anyone know if the restaurant will remain Hungarian / did the ownership change?

I wish I had tried it sooner.

  1. I was driving along Ventura Blvd. over the weekend and said to the husband, "Another place I want to try is that Hungarian restaurant, Hortobagy something." I gesture to the building as we pass, and I notice it's no longer Hortobagy but an Indian restaurant. I couldn't tell if it was open yet. But Hortobagy is definitely not there anymore. Anyone been to the Indian place, or isn't it yet open? There's quite an Indian enclave along there with Bollywood and Bollywood 2 recently opening.

    1. Oh no!!! We loved Hortobagy, it was really good. I wish we had gone more often. I can't believe it closed...that is really too bad.

      1. Well, it looks like that only leaves Csardas with that lucrative Hungarophile market...

        1. Someone said that the owners of Hortobagy have taken over Csardas on Melrose, renaming it DUNA CSARDA and remodeling it. Is this true?

My hungarian friend who is friends with the owner told me this:

Hortobagy was sold to the Indians. The former owner
and chef made a deal of the owner of Csardas and now
            they are running it.
