Matzah ball soup south end

In desperate need of matzah ball soup with the weather change. Any suggestions? Something in the south end preferably.

I hate to admit it, but Whole Foods has a decent matzo ball soup. Not NEARLY as good as mine, of course... :-)

It's true that Whole Foods is pretty good but I really like Rubens the best. The Butcherie puts dill in it. There's just something not right about that.

What is not right about Matzo ball soup with dill? That is normal and the real. way to make it. New England Soup Factory in Brookline makes a fine one with perfect matzo balls.

Except for the Butcherie's, I never had chicken soup made with dill. I guess I'm just use to the way my mother/relatives made it for the Jewish holidays(or for the occasional cold). The Soup Factory makes really good soup....all kinds. I use to get their matzo balls....nice and fluffy until the last time I got them a few months ago. They tasted like they had freezer burn, and I was very disappointed. The soup is always good.

I was able to buy 2 gallons of chicken soup there on sunday and they had great matzo balls special for the holiday. There were a million people waiting in line to get their soup for the holiday. They also had special foods for the holiday . Everyone loved it and I hated to tell them that I did not make it myself.

Nothing I can think of in the South End. Your best bet is to hop the T (or drive) over to Coolidge Corner in Brookline and go to either Zaftigs, Michael's, or Rubens (about a half mile north of Coolidge Corner). Or go to the Butcherie on Harvard Street, just north of Coolidge Corner, to get some to bring home.
