Ann Arbor Restaurants

Hi Midwest Folks,

I'm a DC Chowhound but my boyfriend just moved to Ann Arbor for a job. We are both major foodies but slightly clueless to the Detroit and Ann Arbor restaurant scene.

I'm going to be going out there to visit quit a bit---possibly once a month, so I would love suggestions of all sorts---all price ranges, food types, atmospheres etc.

Thanks so much!

  1. Hey Elyssa,

I have lived in Ann Arbor for the past 4 years and have been to all sorts of restaurants. Most of the them are on campus (bc i am a student) but some are downtown and off campus.

Casual Lunch sandwich: Potbelly's, Zingerman's (the best, best sandwhichs, bread, cheses, but pricey), Pita Kabob Grill (best kabobs and falafel), Maize and Blue Deli, Red Hot Lovers (BEST burgers, hot dogs and waffle fries in town)

Best lunch special: Sadako (sushi and japanese cuisine)

Bar + Grills: Grizzley Peak Brewing Company and Ann Arbor Brewing Company, Ashley's are three great spots for great beers and good, affordable food.

Nice Dinner: Best restaurants in town are Chop House (fancy steak house with amazing lobster bisque) and Pacific Rim (Asian Fusion. The Tuna is unreal). Gratzi is also good Italian. Gandy Dancer is another famous fancy restaurant with a lot of local memorabilia in their setting of an old train station.

Those are the places that come to mind first. Zingerman's is def a can't miss ann arbor special. Enjoy. If you have specific questions give me a holler.

    1. For fine dining try West End Grill. The best.
