inexpensive but local foods near Portland
Visiting Portland for only a week and I am looking for any good, inexpensive local restaurants near Portland, and "PDX-an" foods to being back with me. Any fish markets to buy reasonable lobster/seafood a plus.

Do you have a car? How are your time constraints for getting around?

The Portland Airport isn't as far out as some cities' airports, but it's still not exactly in the midst of good food options, especially local ones. It's primarily near Asian eateries, and even those are only sort of near.

Your closest relatively inexpensive place that would have some local food, primarily salmon or fish and chips, would be Alameda Brewhouse, probably, on Fremont. It's still going to be a 10 minute drive, though.

If you don't have a car, you can take the Max from the aiport area to downtown Portland.

The Portland airport itself is pretty nice. Decent food, musicians playing, and a store selling only-in-Oregon food products. I bought some berry jams.

If you need it near the airport, and you like Asian, you're in luck. Drive south on 82nd, and you will find the Fubonn market, where you can eat at Malay Satay Hut (east side of street). Also, Pho Van, near Division (west side of street) is amazing Vietnamese food. turn left on Division (heading East) and you will get to Wong's King, home of the best dim sum in town. BTW, you are not in lobster country...try the dungeness crab!
