Tequila Snifters

All,

Need some help. Enjoy good tequilas when in Mexico City (Herradura, Reserva De Familia ...) and especially enjoy them in the miniature snifters that seem to be the norm for Reposados and Anejos in Mexico (sample photo attached). I am looking to purchase some for my home bar and am having a great deal of trouble locating a source.

Any help would be appreciated. I want ones preferably without advertising on them.

Thanks,

Jay

In Mexico most people will sip tequila in something like brandy snifter, the ones you show in your photo are made of blown glass and hard to get here in USA but if you go to any bar supply store you will find the normal brandy snifters which are very similar but will be machine made.

The typical place you will find these in Mexico is in Tonala or Tlaquepaque, which are cities by Guadalajara.

Caballitos are something else which is used for tequila but in less expensive places or places use them for shots.

The ideal glass to drink tequila is the official tequila glass made by Riedel, this you will also find in USA with stores that have Riedel. This glass will give you better characteristics in the tequilas you drink… highly recommended.

it's called a "caballito' (little horse). I dont know where you live but usually any store that sells the heavy Mexican style (typically with a blue or green rim) glassware will have them. Usually about 3-5 dollars each. Or you can keep buying tequila gift packs that include them until you get a whole collection
