Vegas report
Just returned from a four-day trip to Vegas and am in need of a lot of sleep!
Checked out the Peppermill right when we got in (late--around 10:30). Went into the lounge to have a couple cocktails and some apps. Place is really cool. Really old school Vegas. loved it. Drinks were nice (not the usual watered-down casino drink). Apps were good, but nothing special. Got the ribs and potato skins. Both fit the bill and filled us up enough. We stayed for about an hour and a half (2 drinks a piece and the 2 apps), it was about $50. Such a deal.
We went to Rosemary's for lunch the following day. Used the online coupon for the $20 prix fixe lunch. Wow! Started with a ginger sour cocktail ($10--but I felt like splurging seeing I was getting lunch for $20). Drink was excellent, and unlike anything i've tasted before. Our waiter was very nice and we enjoyed speaking with him and hearing his recommendations.. The bbq shrimp app was so good I almost fell off my chair (my SO agreed). Got the filet kabobs and SO got mahi mahi. Both excellent. The thing with the food here is its' flavor. Everything really punches out at you and it's an extremely sensory experience. In fact, although the portions aren't huge, we both felt full about 3/4 of the way through our entrees. So much so we had to have dessert wrapped to go (florless choc. cake and carrot cake--both excellent later in our hotel room that night).
Had dinner at Lotus of Siam. Started with the sour sausage app. Very unsusual, but delicious (with great crunchy and soft textures). We went with 2 friends, and we all really loved it. We asked our waiter Tony (cousin of the infamous Bill) for his recommendations.
Off the Northern Thai menu, he suggested the spicy sausage. But we had just had sausage, so he said the catfish with red curry. It was just ok. We also had the drunken noodles and paad thai with shrimp. Both were really good. All in all, we thought it was good food, but not too above some other Thai restaurants we've been to. I also wish the place had been cleaner and nicer than it was. It looks like a dive chinese restaurant inside, not even good lighting or anything. It made me want to decorate the place myself. Come on guys, put some effort into ambience!
No other great meals to speak of. Really wanted to try and have a fancy drink somewhere with a nice view, but our parties could not seem to make any solid plans, so we ended up just drinking cocktails in the casinos.
Thanks for everyone's recommendtions. The Peppermill, Rosemary's (love that place!), and Lotus of Siam were all great and places I will go to again on future Vegas trips. You helped make my stay there rich with great food! Too bad the video poker machines didn't make me rich.

Thanks for the report. Rosemary's and LOS are my standard visits in all my trips.
Personally I hope they don't change LOS. I like the ambiance and the low key atmoshpere. I'm afraid if they pretty it up too much, the prices will go up, it'll get overrun by the hip crowd and the food quality will go down.
If you've ever been to their original place in California, it was also a kind of divey hole in a wall stuck in an old strip mall. It was great. You have to really want to go there for the food and be willing to overlook everything else.
