Sea Ranch: Two Fish bakery and so long Pangaea
Had a lovely weekend at Sea Ranch that included daily visits to Two Fish on Annapolis Road. We've had trouble catching them when they are open/still have something to buy in the past, but this time we did well. The baguettes were terrific with a super crunchy crust and tender innards, good flavor. I may have found my perfect hot cross bun there. Moist and good yeasted dough flavor, raisins tasted like they had been soaked in brandy, perfect little sugar zip from the cross. And a fantastic bear claw that tasted like nothing but butter and almond paste.
We also had a good meal at Pangaea, which was a nice change from the pretty awful experience we had there on NYE two years ago, but were sad to learn that they are closing the restaurant in September to do "mobile high-end catering." The highlight of this dinner was the braised artichoke hearts and nettles with shaved parmesan. The rest of the meal was good, too. I especially liked my rabbit, and the halibut was very fresh and cooked to perfection. The steak eaters felt their rib steaks were perfectly cooked but had a bit too much gristle to be really enjoyable. Solid creme brulee and molten chocolate cake with ice cream and caramel sauce for dessert.
Anyway, if anyone's been saving this place for a special occasion better make it now.

How far is up Annapolis Road from Highway 1 is it to Two Fish?

We were in the area two weeks ago and also had a great dinner at Pangaea. They mentioned that after closing for good they might open a few times a year for "special dinners".
One alternative to TwoFish is a place called Trink's in Gualala. We had a late start for breakfast and headed there thinking we'd miss all the goodies at TwoFish. Around 9:30am Trink's had amazing scones and muffins fresh out of the oven.

The Gualala River is the boundary between Mendocino County and Sonoma County. Gualala Point Park is in Sonoma County and a county park. The unincorporated town of Gualala, where the restaurant is located, is in Mendocino County.
Here's the Gualala Town Plan from the Mendocino County website,

Edited to add: Sea Ranch's Two Fish bakery is in Sonoma County.
