The Canary

There's a small story about this in one of the free metro papers... is it true? Is the Canary really closed?

  1. Yes it's true, it closed yesterday. See SAD NEWS.

    1. It's always sad to lose a piece of history, especially a family business like this. But they had a great run. The reality is that the Canary has primarily been a movie set for many years now. Although I often pass within a block of the Canary, I can't remember the last time I actually stopped to eat there. There was never anything special about their food. I remember the days when most reasonably priced Toronto restaurants served the Canary's menu - the days when Fran's was considered one of the best restaurants in town. I don't miss those days. But I DO wish the owners well.

      1. There's a good write-up on the Canary closing in today's Toronto Star.
