What are the best non-romantic restaurants near westlake or southlake? We are staying
at the Marriot Solana for race weekend with our son and his wife and don't want to travel
far from the hotel. Any comments on La Scala, http://lascalajoes.com/, which is located next to hotel? Just don't want gourmet type foods or steakhouse. Fun atmosphere w/great drinks and appetizers a plus.

Southlake Town Center has a variety of options, including Cheesecake Factory (huge menu, drinks and desserts), Snuffers for burgers, Rockfish for seafood, and many other places. Nothing too fancy, and are all family places. I'm sure you can find something that suits your needs.

I'm sure you're probably already done checking this, but don't go to La Scala. I work across 114 from Marriott Solana and we go there for lunch...decent pizza but definitely not a good place for atmosphere. Southlake Town Square is the way to go (114 heading east, exit Carroll street and turn right. Its on your left). If you're looking for drinks, go to Mi Cocina for the Mambo Taxis (VERY strong margaritas) or X's and O's for a typical bar type place.
