I like the taste of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, but almost all of their canned soups leave a strong aftertaste in my mouth that I hate (same with many commercial cookies like Peek Freans). Knorr soup mix is fine. Any body else has the same problem? Would there be another brand of canned soup that will not leave an aftertaste?

Does soup in a box count? Pacific ORganic Foods makes really good soups. I love the creamy tomato for when I want it instantly instead of roasting my own tomatoes. And I like that the boxes have a cap so I can use it over a few days.

That aftertaste may have something to do with the huge amounts of sodium in canned soup. Or the metal can.

I haven't had that problem, but I can second the Pacific Organic Brand.
I think Imagine Organics makes a Creamy Mushroom.
Also, if you have a Trader Joe's near check out their tomato soup. Yum...
You could always make a large batch of Cream Of Mushroom & freeze it.
(as long as you don't overheat it when reheating)

Do you mean canned in metal cans, or would soup canned in mason jars count as canned for you? Most of the refrigerated soups canned in mason jars I've tried have been pretty good. I especially like the Sunflower Kitchen (I think that's the brand name) that is at Whole Foods and the soups at Nortown Foods on York Mills or Eglinton. There is also a good refrigerated borscht made here in TO that you can find in most Polish delis. Many of them have expiry dates that are 4- 6 weeks away. I haven't noticed an aftertaste with the refrigerated soups. I rarely buy soup in metal cans now.

For soup in metal cans, have you tried Baxter's? I remember it tasting pretty good the last time I purchased it. They have some interesting flavours.
