Lunch/Brunch in West End

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted on Chowhound. I must have missed tons of chowfinds - I'll have to find some time to catch up.

Anyway, I'm hoping you hounds can help me with a venue for a highschool "reunion" of sorts. It's 4 girls who haven't seen each other in 10 or so years so we're looking for a place that isn't going to rush us out, but will let us linger and chat. Additionally, we're looking to meet up somewhere in the "middle" since some of us are coming from the east end while others are coming from the Guelph/Waterloo/Cambridge area - perhaps something in Mississauga/Oakville? As well, we'll have to keep it along the lines of European continental foods, since I'm not sure all of us can be considered adventurous eaters. And if there aren't enough conditions already, we are looking to meet up on a Sunday, either for brunch or lunch.

I am really really hoping we can avoid the chain restaurants, but if we are resigned to go with a chain restaurant because of the multitude of conditions, I would appreciate help locating one in the west end as I am not familiar with the area myself.

Many thanks in advance!

  1. Try the Axis on Dundas West near Quebec in the heart of the Junction. In Bloor West Village, Sharkey's has very good fare for brunch.

For Sunday brunch try Toro in the Bloor West Village...on Bloor Street right at the South Kingsway...easy access from the Gardiner...Chef Kirkwod is doing very good food in the village & very reasonable...good friendly service...strongly reccomended!!
