I'm visiting New York in May with my parents to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. Could you recommend a good Irish bar (I'm from Cork) in Manhattan. We'll be zooming around all over the place sampling some of the delights I've picked up thanks to the suggestions on this site - a great head start!

My favorite is Molly's Shebeen on 3rd Ave. They pour a good Guinness or Murphy's, friendly staff, a fire in the fireplace and sawdust on the floor.

I like Slainte on Bowery. Puck Fair on Lafayette is popular too.

Paddy Reilly's on 2nd ave is interesting - they only serve guiness on tap.

While I, like other posters, am a huge fan of Molly's and their burgers, I'll do due diligence and give you the web site for the ultimate guide to Irish bars in NYC - good hunting!
