Wine recs for Gilmore's

My husband and I will be going to dinner next week at Gilmore's for the very first time! I'd like to know if anyone who has eaten there has any wine recs for a white and a red... preferably $20 and under. I'm usually a chard drinker and my husband cab, but I'd be up to trying something new. I know this is a broad question considering we don't know exactly what we're eating, but I'd love any suggestions... maybe suggest food/wine pairing.
Thank you!

Lucky you! Gilmore's is one of my very favorite BYOs in the area. If I were you, I'd look at the menu on their website, and get a sense of what you're likely to order. Then, if you're anywhere in the Wilmington, DE or Pennsauken, NJ areas, go to Moore Brothers, menu in hand, and ask for wine recommendations. I can promise you you won't be disappointed.

I've looked at their online menu so many times... the butter poached lobster always catches my attention! What have you had there that you would recommend? Is Total Wine in Claymont ok for recs? I have to figure out how far I am from Wilmington... I'm in Villanova.

You are probably less than 30 minutes away from Moore bros in Wilmington - it is not that far from Total Wine and worth it! 476 to 95 south stay on 95 when it splits with 495 at the DE border, go to the DE ave exit (one past 202) and it is about 3 mins. from the exit! (don't tell the PLCB!)

True. In fact, Moore Bros. is probably not more than 10 minutes beyond Total Wine. Total Wine does have a good selection, but the folks at Moore Bros. are passionate about what they sell. They'll give you background on the grower and the vineyards based on their personal experiences. And, the wines sold at Moore Bros. you're not likely to find at any large wine store; in many cases they're limited production from small, specialized wineries.

From Villanova it's easy to hop on the Blue Route, then to I-95 South, etc. Definitely worth the trip.

I don't have specific recommendations but I would definitely take one of each. While they will have specials I believe a portion of their menu is posted on their web-site.
