Going to St. Louis at the end of April for three days. Anyone have suggestions for some real good Saint Louis Bar B Que?

I'll have to recommend a new spot across the river, about 12 miles away from the Arch being 17th St BBQ in O'Fallon/ They just opened this new location and their Q is top notch. All apple wood smoked. They have been winners in Memphis a number of times. My fav is the super sampler...about $20 of finger lickin' goodness that I can barely finish. http://www.17thstreetbarbecue.com/#

Pennie's BBQ on Reavis Barracks is the best place I have found, big thick pork steaks dripping in sauce. with a couple of sides. They butcher their own meat so nothing is on the skimpy side. Always are packed but worth the wait.

        Memphis or Kansas City.

Flaming Pig in Clayton. Yeah I know, incongruous having BBQ in Clayton, but this place is awesome. East of World News on Forsyth.

I assume you're referring to Lampert's Plush Pig http://www.plushpigbbq.com/. Haven't been, but have heard good things.

My bad. You are correct. The guy who owns it is passionate about his BBQ. He was talking about making a decent corned beef last time I was there.

You were probably flashing back to the late, not lamented, Flaming Pit, a St. Louis restaurant of yesteryear.

Whatever happened to the Flaming Pits? I had forgotten about them. The onl y thing I remember is they made kicker martinis.

The one on Chippewa (or was it Hampton) closed approximately 8 years ago. They had some very good steaks.
