Finally made it to this excellent place for lunch today. Andy was behind the sushi bar for a very exciting sushi lunch - he made some great suggestions - I highly recommend sitting at the bar (as other CH have recommended to me). Three of our favorites were: Jalapeno with Cilantro Yellowtail with soy yuzu dressing (wow, beautiful presentation too, could have eaten several dishes of this). Another was the Toro Steak w/ wakame spicy miso. and Monk fish pate with fish roe & yuzu miso. Oh oh oh, another great one was the Mango tuna roll with mango, eel, shrimp and tuna. We also got our standby of edamame and got a nice appetiser of fried tofu dipped in light fish broth, topped with scallion, grated radish and nameko mushrooms - "agedashi tofu". Absolutely phenominal lunch. Andy made us something on the house too, little sample of torched pieces of salmon, tuna and white tuna. This place just became our favorite sushi place - not because of the "special treat on the house" either - it was just excellent, creative, presentation was so pleasant, deliscous.

If you haven't tried it yet, go. Thanks to those that sent me!!! It's across from the mall, next to Cosco in a strip mall up on the hill.

Enjoy.

Absolutely, although we didn't sit at the bar at Takumi and that cetainly was key at Red Leaf. Andy was excellent at suggestioning creative ones. We got a chef's special at Takumi and it was just "typical" sushi rolls, same old same old. The menu at Red Leaf is very nice, creative, different for japanese items - we didn't check out the chinese section but nice thats an option.

Andy mentioned Uni when I asked about it but he said if I hadn't had it before that it wasn't for newbies? I'm a budding sushi lover so he suggested we not try it for our first time.

Based on your review, I stopped in at the Red Leaf today. I was leaving Trader Joe's and called in my order before I pulled out of the parking lot. it was 1:30 in the afternoon. By the time I walked in the door, it was ready.

Boy, there was a lot of tuna in my spicy tuna roll. It was fresh and delicious, and I also liked the packaging very much.

I'll definitely return! Great food, great price.

Next time, you shoud really enjoy the sushi bar and let them do their thing. I really love their creative menu on the sushi side - not all your typical maki rolls, etc. I haven't tried their chinese menu but looked good too.
