Ther are lots of songs about food. I did this about ten years ago. Hope I can remember...

'Cheeseburger in Paradise' - Jimmy Buffet
'Strawberry Jam' - Michelle Shocked

Having a tough time remembering, but there's a starter list. I'll take a look and try to come up with a few others

Any cibo matto song. There songs are all about food
Permalink | Reply
I second Cibo Matto! For a party mix, I'd particularly recommend Birthday Cake or Know Your Chicken.
Not my personal favorite, but I would think any food mix should include Jimmy Buffett's "Cheeseburger in Paradise."

all right, another Mats fan! And to think so many folks considered that song just "filler" when it could be Chris Mars' finest hour...
I'd add :
"Pecan Pie" by Golden Smog
"The Lemon Song" by Led Zep (ok, just pretend it really is about lemons)
"Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" and "Chewy, Chewy", both by Ohio Express
and nobody has yet mentioned
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all together,
Put the lime in the coconut then you'll feel better..."
(btw, the PM Dawn version trumps Nilsson's original)
and lastly, let us not forget Stan Ridgway's immortal lyric:
"I wish I was in Tijuana, eating barbecued iguana..."

"Everybody Eats When They Come to My House" by the one and only Cab Calloway.
Have a banana, Hannah,
Try the salami, Tommy,
Give with the gravy, Davy,
Everybody eats when they come to my house!
Try a tomato, Plato,
Here's cacciatore, Dorie,
Taste the baloney, Tony,
Everybody eats when they come to my house!
I fix your favorite dishes,
Hopin' this good food fills ya!
Work my hands to the bone in the kitchen alone,
You better eat if it kills ya!
Pass me a pancake, Mandrake,
Have an hors-d'oeuvre-y, Irvy,
Look in the fendel, Mendel,
Everybody eats when they come to my house!
Hannah! Davy! Tommy! Dora! Mandrake!
Everybody eats when they come to my house!
Pastafazoola, Talullah!
Oh, do have a bagel, Fagel,
Now, don't be so bashful, Nashville,
Everybody eats when they come to my house!
Hey, this is a party, Marty,
Here, you get the cherry, Jerry,
Now, look, don't be so picky, Micky,
'Cause everybody eats when they come to my house!
All of my friends are welcome,
Don't make me coax you, moax you,
Eat the tables, the chairs, the napkins, who cares?
You gotta eat if it chokes you!
Oh, do have a knish, Nishia,
Pass me the latke, Macky,
Chile con carne for Barney,
Everybody eats when they come to my house!
Face! Buster! Chair! Chops! Fump!
Everybody eats when they come to my house!
Everybody eats when they come to my house!

In the Jazz genre:
All That Meat and No Potato - Fats Waller (Louis Armstrong does a nice version, too.)
"All that meat and no potato
Just ain't right, like green tomato ..."
I Want the Waiter (With the Water) - Jimmie Lunceford (Ella Fitzgerald sings the more famous version.)
"I want the waiter
With the water
I want the waiter with the water for my daughter ..."
Frim Fram Sauce - Nat King Cole
Java Jive - Manhattan Transfer (and many others)
And, of course, Cab Calloway's "Everybody Eats When They Come to My House", as mentioned above.
There are lots more on this site:

Not sure how I stumbled across this thread, but it made me laugh. My wife and I hosted our dinner group last year and, completely out of themes after five or six years of getting together, decided that everyone would have to bring a dish based on a song. I put together a playlist of songs whose titles had something to do with food and burned discs for all everyone. Some of what I chose may already have been mentioned, but here is my playlist:
(Do the) Mashed Potatoes James Brown
American Pie Don McLean
Breakfast in America Supertramp
Brown Sugar The Rolling Stones
Eat to the Beat Blondie
Jambalaya on the Bayou Fats Domino
Fish, Chips and Sweat Funkadelic
Green Onions Booker T. & the M.G's
I Like Food Descendents
Ice Cream Man Van Halen
The Lemon Song Led Zeppelin
Pulling Mussels (From the Shell) Squeeze
Raspberry Beret Prince
Quiche Lorraine The B52s
Savoy Truffle The Beatles
Soul Sauce (Guachi Guaro) Cal Tjader
Sugar Magnolia The Grateful Dead
Tupelo Honey Van Morrison
Vegetables The Beach Boys
Bar-B-Q Wendy Rene
Whipped Cream (Marinelli Remix) Herb Alpert & the Tijuanna Brass
You're My Meat Joe Jackson
