Will restaurants be open on Good Friday?

I'll be in town over the Easter weekend and I was wondering if most restaurants will be open on Good Friday, or will they be busy at church, repenting their ways?

I can't think of one place that would close for Good Friday...I could be wrong though.

If anyhting it is one of the biggest nights of the years for seafood restaurants around town.

If you aren't Catholic, it would be a great night to hit up a steakhouse like Dickie Brennan's or Crescent City.

      Roger that bbares81....

do not even think of going to a seafood market on Good Friday.... they usually show the mayhem on newscasts.

We had company over Easter weekends, and we could not get near any of teh Bucktown places.

      Steak is a good suggestion!

Seriously? Crazed Easter crowds in the fish market, and it makes the news? Man, I love New Orleans--you people have your priorities right.

No, I'm so not Catholic that I forgot it was Easter when I booked our trip. Reverentially eating a good meal is my religion...

Yes.... it is almost a ritual -

and they usually use the occasion to report on the state of the seafood industry.

Another place you could go is La Boca (there is a website) for great Argentenian steaks...thats where I am likely going....I am Catholic...I just think "sacrificing" by eating seafood in New Orleans is laughable.

Holy cow (so to speak) that website nearly made me drool on my keyboard. They have hanger steak!

...and yeah, if your Good Friday meal is supposed to be a hardship, than I don't think seafood counts anymore. Definitely go with the steak--it's harder to chew...

Well, if you are thinking about going to La Boca...the hanger steak is indeed incredible as is the golf salad and the appetizer of melted cheese, oil and herbs. The wines are almost all South American and are a bargain when bought in full or half carafes.
The service was outstanding...the host Orestes (who my family and I has followed around at several restaurants for over 20 years will attend to you every need.

If you go and enjoy it, Rio Mar is their sister restuarant and is equally as good.
