http://www.chowhound.com/topics/38480... is my original post in the Manhatten board,

Here is a copy

Help NYC foodies. I will be in the city the first week of April. For the second seder we are going to a friends house in Fairlawn NJ. One of my Kid's turns 5 that day (Tue, April 3). Do you know where I can find a way kewl Kosher for Passover Birthday Cake? If you have a number or web site that would be great, I will call and advance order it.
Details, I am staying near 48th and Lexington. I will have a car that Tuesday. I am driving from the City to Paterson NJ in the Morning and then to my friends house in Fairlawn that afternoon. So any bakery in the City or around the area's in NJ would work. However, I may have to pick the cake up on Monday, so the city would be easier, but, I could probably get someone in NJ to pick the cake up on Monday if need be.
Thanks

I doubt you'll find a kosher for passover bakery open on Monday. I think you'll have luck at a market like Fairway, but it won't be a birthday cake, most likely.

Most passover cakes are baked weeks in advance, so your best bet would be to get one from My Most Favotite Desert Company day before Pesach, i.e. Monday. I'm sure you can special order from them.

Try Butterflake Bakery in Teaneck(just 5 minutes from Fairlawn): 201 836-3516. They advertised in their window that they will be open selling kosher for passover baked goods on Monday.

Payard sells two packaged flourless cakes (chocolate, lemon). Their hecksher is from the Paris Vad. They're not exactly birthday cakes, but they are delicious. Well, they ARE Payard cakes. And I would imagine that Payard will not close for the holiday. You should call, though, and reserve a cake.

My mother's birthday is in April, so I often have to get her cake there. Both cakes have gone over well.

They sell other flourless cakes (i.e., not packaged), but I don't believe those have any hecksher.

Call Gertels on Hester Street, they are kosher for Passover and do custom birthday cakes for Passover. But call ASAP I think its 212 982 3019 but not sure
