I'm looking for a romantic restaurant in Sonoma County to celebrate our anniversary, also, fun wineries to visit.

There are regular posts on this board on just this topic, so use the search feature for tons of feedback.

For Sonoma + romantic, you can't do much better than the Farmhouse Inn in Forestville. Cyrus in Healdsburg feels a little more formal and is more expensive, but is terrific. In the city of Sonoma there is The Girl and the Fig, Cafe le Haye, and La Salette. In between there is the Kenwood Inn.

Lots of other restaurants in Sonoma County have been praised on this board, so there is no shortage of fine restaurants or opinions about them...

Here are a couple of links on Sonoma area wineries:

Your suggestion of Kenwood Inn may be confusing. To my knowledge, Kenwood Inn is a spa with limited food. Kenwood restaurant in Kenwood is a top French bistro type. So far as I know, there is no connection between the two locations.

The Girl and the Fig is great....if the weather is nice, sit outside on the patio.

I dined at the girl and the fig a few weeks ago and would not reccommend it. The food was not impressive at all, the cheese plate was good. Seems like over-rated regular food.

Try Zazu in Santa Rosa. Slightly out of the way, but the food is amazing. It's romantic in a casual, Sonoma kind of way!

Their homemade nutter butters are killer!

I think the General's Daughter is utterly romantic; a converted Victorian home with an elegant, understated interior. Unlike Cafe La Haye and Girl & The Fig, the tables are not quite so close together as to feel as though you are eating with everyone else.

I really like Cafe La Haye, but I agree that I would not describe it as romantic. The Farmhouse Inn is excellent. Also I have heard good things recently about the Madronna Manor in Dry Creek -- it has a very romantic atmosphere but I haven't been there recently enough to vouch for the food. One nice thing about both of those places is that you can stay there also (though both are pricey).

Agree with carrie218. General's Daughter is in a different class from Girl and Fig, also more expensive BUT well worth it. Sublime food and service where prefixe menu offers unbeatable value and flexibility. Highlights include foie gras, ravioli, lamb chops, and chocolate souffle....everything was well executed. Our guests also enjoyed their Hawaiian Snapper, Asparagus and Beet Salad, and White Bean and Vegetable Soup. Definitely the best meal we had on this trip! Girl and Fig is more of a lunch place or early light dinner in patio. Overall food does not even compare to General's Daughter. Hint...girl and fig does have the BEST butter to go with their bread though!
