Does anyone know where I could buy some good quality wild boar?

I saw some at St. Lawrence Market (North) last Saturday - sold by Second Wind Elk. If I remember correctly, it was sold frozen.

You might also want to try The Healthy Butcher and Cumbrae's.

I'm pretty sure Cumbrae's would have it, as I've purchased Wild Boar pate from them.

It was a little boring though-I've had better, but I can't speak for any specific cuts though.

I'm 96% sure that Dufferin Grove farmers market (Thursdays from 3:30pm - 7pm, Dufferin park which is a 5 minute walk south of Dufferin & Bloor) has a vendor selling fresh and frozen wild boar. I got some bacon once and it was delish.

At Dufferin Grove you want the stall of Ute Zell. Not always in stock though so phone ahead to place an order --the market website includes a phone number (scroll down to vendors list)

I'm pretty sure that Grace Meats has it. (I met someone who works there at a party yesterday and he said it's available)

Great recommendations. I will add them to my food journal and stop by. I want to make some wild boar ragu Tuscan style with homemade tagliatelle.

i believe Stonehenge farm has plenty, but the trick is you will have to find them at one of the local organic farmer's markets. They are usually at the Dufferin Grove Market every Thursday from 3 to 7 year-round. Also lots of other great products. I did buy some wild boar from them and it was excellent.

Here's their info and contact details:Stonehenge Farms (not certified, but local): Ute Zell and Tom Greenall raise English game birds, chickens, guniea fowl, pheasants, Pekin and Muscovy ducks, wild boar, goats, lambs, and deer at her farm near Guelph, using methods based partly on organic practices, partly on bio-dynamics, but using conventional feed when the birds and animals are not grazing off the land.
