Pompano Beach

Doing a "girls" weekend at a friend's place in Pompano Beach in a few weeks. Any recommendations for a great restaurant within close proximity? I'm looking for wonderful fresh seafood, good cocktails/wine, pleasant service and good desserts (girls weekend is a good excuse for us to share a few good desserts!). Thanks!

If you want good food, I would recommend Cafe Maxx in Pompano. No cocktails, but a terriffic wine list, great food and fantastic desserts.

Thank you! I found their website--they do have a full liquor menu now too (although just wine is fine for me).

There is a place called Joes. It's been a while since I have been there, but it's right on the intercoastal and atlantic I think. Before you get to lauderdale. It was great, and we sent my boyfriend's parents there a few months ago and they loved it as well.

Thank you! I found a website for it (Joe's Riverside Grill???)--looks great!

Joe's Riverside Grill is wonderful! It's definitely a seafood place. Make sure you have the garlic roasted potatoes. Seriously one of the best potato dishes we've ever had. You'd have a great time with the girls. It's also a nice place for a date. It's owned by a husband and wife team and definitely feels small and personal. Our only minor criticism is that our server could have been a bit more knowledgable but I would not let it keep me from going back.

Thanks for the Joe's recommendation--it was wonderful. We had impeccably fresh fish, deliciously prepared. The key lime pie (Mom's homemade) was delicious, very different from any I've had before, it was light and chiffonlike. Our server was a little goofy, but very pleasant. I would definitely return and recommend it to others.

So glad you enjoyed your experience. I think Joe's is a little-known gem...we must have had the same server... :)
