Just a thanx for the recommendations on Bend. I had a beer at the Pine Tavern--nice atmosphere and was able to get a seat at the bar between two gentlemen who educated me about the Ducks--no not the edible variety! Then we discussed whether the duck or the beaver is Oregon's state animal. Then I went to Cork for dinner. I had a raw ahi tuna ap and a flank steak salad. Although these are almost obligitory items on some menus, both were delicious. The flank steak salad (on a bed of wilted spinach with campazola (ms.?) toast) was better than the one I had at Park Kitchen a few months ago.
