Steak tartare in LA

My gf's mother is in town and has a taste for some raw red meat. Sure, it's old school, but so is she. Any suggestions? We'll be rolling from Los Feliz, so Hollywood and its environs are preferred. Holla!

though i have a limited knowledge of what makes a "good" steak tartare i must say that the one I tried at Ford's Filling Station in Culver City was quite good. i know it's not in the neighborhood but it never hurts to have options.

I like the steak tartare at Cafe Des Artistes. They also make it at the table and you can adjust the amount of heat you want in it. Took my mom there for her b-day and we split an order. It was great. If you go there, be sure to book the back patio.

Warszawa has a good steak tartare appetizer but it's closer to SM

Two words - POLO LOUNGE (at the Bevely Hills Hotel). Old school, prepared at your table. Went there for my birthday!

If you are willing to try a different version of steak tartare you can try the raw kibbeh at Marouch (or Carousel might have it too but I think that Marouch is the better restaurant.) Both restaurants are located in Los Feliz/East Hollywood area.

Another different version could be kitfo at any Ethiopian joint. Delicious!

I believe the best available in Los Angeles today is made at Mistral's in Sherman Oaks. You can order an appetizer portion or as an entree. Both come with frites. The rest of their menu is pretty stellar as well.
