The last thread on the subject I that I found was 2005. Some friends asked if I knew of a good place for soba and udon in the San Fernando Valley, preferably in the west Valley (they live in Woodland Hills). They usually go to Mishima on 3rd, but were looking for something closer to home.

  1. I have been to Kyushu Ramen a few times in the past. It was always good. Presume it's still there. Found the address on the net : 15355 Sherman Way
    Van Nuys, CA 91408

It's in a small strip mall just W of Sepulveda. North side of the street.

You have got to be kidding me right? Kyushu?! Really? I mean, I guess since we don't have many Ramen restaurants in the Valley this might be a popular (and by popular I mean only) choice, but I would strongly advice against it.
If I were you, I'd hop in the car and take a drive over the hill to Ramenya or some of the other ramen spots already mentioned in another post.
Don't even get me started on Nippon Ramen. Just plain old bad.

EDIT: god it's late...I forgot to add an Udon restaurant I once went to on the corner of Sawtelle and Olympic. Can't remember the name but its on the 3rd floor of that complex on the corner.
      YAWN! Im out!

    2. I like Kyushu also for the ramen but never tried the udon. Nippon Ramen on Reseda and Vanowen is not bad, but Kyushu is better.

      1. Well, there you go. Kyushu seems to be the answer. I've never had the Ramen, only udon. It was just like I had in Kyushu! (Kita) - North end of Kyushu Island, Japan. I think they may also serve crunchy ramen from the south that's served hot with veges and sauce! YUM!
