Upscale brunch in East Village/LES tomorrow

I'm looking for a nice brunch place around the EV or LES to take two friends to celebrate their engagement. Thinking about EU or Falai (but not sure if either have brunch or what they are like), Balthazar or something along those lines?

Suggestions?

Try brunch at The Stanton Social...it's really amazing! Perfect celebration place.

Sure! Not a problem. Take my word for it, the place has a damn good brunch and great surroundings. Enjoy!

Just called-- nothing available at the time I need. Damn! I was looking forward to it. Any chance you've eaten at EU for brunch? Seems to be the only place/time that is going to work for me tomorrow.

Have not yet eaten at EU. Try "Thor" as your next place...awesome food and cool atmosphere.

Really? I haven't been there for brunch but found their evening bar food (perhaps on a dinner menu; I forget) to be way oversalted and just plain mediocre, at best. What's special about their brunch, and when was the last time you went there?

Hi there...I went to Thor about 2 months ago for dinner and about a month ago for brunch. I found dinner to be perfect, from start to finish. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy yourself very much.
Try the: tuna tartare, gnocchi, egg dishes. I liked how it was a prix fixe menu for $25...and so much, including drink and dessert, was included.

I had the gnocchi. My remarks above apply to them! Oh well.

Question: what time did you make brunch reservations for?

Schiller's has an excellent brunch. You could also try Casimir or Esperanto (not really 'upscale', but good nontheless).

            I don't think Schiller's is very "upscale." Try Thor...it won't disappoint.

I concur with Lucia; Five points is outstanding. The food is terrific, and it is a great space.

I took the initiative and went to EU for brunch, what a mistake!
It was just a lunch menu with nothing to reccommend, no eggs benedict, no stand out dishes. I settled for the EU burger which was really average. Service was good though and the decor is great for a bar at night. This place must be fun for groups or munchies before hitting Rivington st but upscale brunch? Forget it, I wish I'd gone to tHoR.
