Good food near Jurys?

  • 7

I've been to Laurel, which I think is good, but would like to try something else. Any recommendations for a restaurant for dinner near Jurys? we're open to type of cuisine, thanks!

  1. Deluxe Cafe for inexpensive comfort food in a fairly cool atmosphere.

Sit at the bar and order the tuna tartare (the best in the city, IMO), and one of their awesome thin crust pizzas-----all good, but I'm partial to the one with cheese, whipped potato, thinly-sliced rare-ish beef tenderloin, and truffle oil. The crust is to die for!

If you walk a little ways down into the South End, there is a great pair of restaurants from the infamous Barbara Lynch - B&G Oysters if for a chic oyster house vibe, The Butcher Shop for charcuterie and wine...

Both are big time Boston Chowhound favorites.

    2. Davio's and Via Matta come to mind for Italian. I haven't been to Sorellina (behind the library in the other direction) but there have been lots of good posts about it on this board.

      1. douzo, the franklin cafe, aquitaine, hammersley's, sibling rivalry, picco, petite robert II and union are all within walking distance.

        1. Grill 23 is across the street from Jurys (161 Berkeley Street) - top-notch steak and seafood, but entrees run $34+.

For solid southwestern cuisine and fantastic margaritas, The Cottonwood Cafe is right up the street on the corner of Berkeley and St. James (222 Berkeley Street).
