Positano--Great, inexpensive food?

Sorry to keep asking the same question in different ways... my parents are about to go to Italy for their 25th wedding anniversary. They will be spending a few days in Positano, and would like to seek out regional specialties, great bakeries, gelato, etc...They are big supporters of Slow Food, but don't have tons of money, so recommendations for inexpensive places would be great!

  1. I dont know about Positano proper but I think the little town up the hill, Montepertuso, has a couple of restaurants written up in Slow Food Guide. Also one in Nocelle. A short hop by bus to get up there. In Atrani (a 20 min walk from Amalfi if they visit there or the next stop on the coastal SITA bus) is A'Paranza, where we had an excellent meal last week with fine regional cooking. The Pansa pastry shop in Amalfi next to the Duomo had great looking stuff. If your parents are active, they should definitely look at the tourist info office for walking/hiking maps, its really the best activity in the area, a stunning experience if your parents arent shoppers or total couch potatoes - a nice walk is great for developing the appetite. Delicious Campanian regional wines from Furore, Ravello, Tramonti, and of course the wines from Avellino, Paestum. Ischia etc.
