no, i walked by the other day and they weren't open.

I used to get delivery from there when I lived in in Logan.

They might be renovating, but I got the impression they were Out of Biz

Sorry, everyone sold out and it's being converted into condos. Kam Fong around the corner is going too, if not gone already. China Doll sold out a long time ago, nevermind Dai Hua which went out of business because they turned off customers and their prices were too high.

          Condos?
          Good lord.
Good luck with sellin' em - perhaps they should stroll down 14th street and the lack of people buying those right now.

No condos. Lei Garden is going to be an Italian place called Vapianos. Kam Fong is gone and so is China Doll.

I think both China Doll and the old Dai Hua bldg will be condos. 14th st. condo is probably not as hot as a condo right on H st.

You're correct, they are not open. I live a couple of blocks away and was saddened several months ago when we tried to order our weekly favorite (mu shu chicken and beef chow fun) and the number was disconnected.
HOWEVER, my husband and I recently bought a condo in CityVista. Apparently the owner of Lei Garden bought one there as well...
According to our contact in the CityVista sales office the restaurant is closed for now as they are doing some work above the building (which I haven't seen yet...anyone?) in preparation for an upcoming condo project which will takeover that block. But Lei Garden is supposed to be reoopening at some future date TBD. Let's hope this is true--their dim sum was pretty good (at least the best that Chinatown had to offer...you have to go out to Falls Church to get anything better!). Not so sure though since their website (www.leigarden.com) is down and currently for sale...

Honestly, I wouldn't bet on Lei Garden returning. Once they find out how much it will cost to start a new lease on a space to open a restaurant in that part of town, they will get sticker shock. Chinese restaurants typically need to pull in at least 60% profit in order to be worthwhile for the owner, and that percentage includes money under the table via cash payments by customers.

Yeah - I used to live right next door to the girl who managed the place (her mom owned it) and she sold moved out of our condo in chinatown a while ago. She always told me that she was hoping to do something else - I really doubt they're gonna open back up.

Say hi for me to Debra (or, I guess, her mom) if you see her around the CityVista

Well, I'm depressed to hear all this. I was hoping there was just something wrong with the number. So, what is the consensus? Where can I get good dim sum (stainless carts and all) in the DC/Arlington area? Thanks for any help you can offer.
