I'm not familiar with their frito pie, but I do know that the wings and chili cheese fries are awesome. I'm guessing the chili & cheese is the same topping going onto the fritos, so I'll assume by association that the frito pie would be delish.
Billy's carries Real Ale's Fireman's #4 on tap, which makes me happy.

I think that their wings are very good. Just the right heat and sauce consistency. Though sitting on the deck with a pitcher and the wings does go a long way into creating a relaxing mood. I'll have to try their jerk wings, though it'll just make me sad since I hadn't thought about Shaggy's in a while.

re: ahaley
Be sad no longer. The owner of Shaggy's got together with Billy and these are just as you remember them (without the band - okay that can make you sad). Also, he happened to be at Billy's the first time I tried them and he's actually bottling the sauce and you can get Shaggy's Wing Sauce at Whole Foods.

Those looking for Frito Pie might also check out Dog Almighty on Burnet (in the Farmer's Market). They offer both regular and veggie versions. My preference is the former, but I'm told the latter is pretty good too. They also top it w/ jalapenos, which I had not seen before, but which is a nice touch.

re: gilintx
I'll second the Dog Almighty praises for their Frito pie. The chili has a nice zip on the finish, isn't overburdened with comino, is thick with ground round...thick enough that the Fritoes stay nice and crispy until the end, w/additions of onions, jalapeños, grated cheese. I have also eaten their veggie chili...a 2nd prize winner in some sort of big annual (17th) vegetarian chili cookoff (who'd a thunk it), and for a veggie chili it was actually pretty tasty....made with adzuki beans, so you don't have to deal with those massive klidney beans you usually find. All in all, an excellent Frito pie (and nice dogs also). Recommended.

That's great to hear. Is there anything you can add to help us understand what makes it delicious to you? Exemplary constituent parts? Unusual recipe?
