Looking for Spectacular Seaside dining outside Barcelona

  • 4

I am looking for a place that I can take a group of friends to for a day trip lunch, somewhere nearby Barcelona.
Id like to charter a mini bus or other transport, to take our group (ten people) somewhere to a fishing villiage/seaside town, where we can have a simple leisurely grilled seafood lunch.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

  1. I don't know how long the drive is, but if you can get to Cadeques, it's worth the trip. It's a beautiful village with a small harbour and plenty of restaurants serving fish along the front. We watched the sunset from a bar on the tiny beach and went for a meal - I can't remember the name of the place we went to, but the fish was great - there are a few to the right hand side of the harbour as you're looking out to sea. We were so caught up in the magic that my now husband proposed to me ...

Cadaqués would be a one day excursion (180 km about 2 to 2 1/2 hrs drive) and passing Girona and Figueras without stopping might prove painful to persons interested in history, architecture and art.
I suggest Vilanova i la Geltru, about an hour from Barcelona - choosing the coastal road for one of the drives with perhaps a stopover in Sitges.
A nice restaurant for grilled fish, seafood and rice dishes is Peixerot on Passeig Maritim, Tel. 93 815 06 25. Think about € 50 with a local wine and water per pp.

Unfortunately I think Cadeques is out of the question for us as it is too far outside the city of Barcelona. I am looking for something 1 hour at the most driving distance.
        Peixrot in Vilanova sounds perfect!
I am going to make a booking today if they let me.
        Gracias a todos!!
But please keep the suggestions coming if you have any more people.

I am so pleased to hear that you love Cadaques. My husband and I are going to Spain in October and just booked 1 night at Hotel Playa Sol in Cadaques, we are so excited to go. If you have any other recs for food please let me know.
