J-town or elsewhere with extensive sake lists?

  • 7

So, the post about "Tokyo Table" got me thinking: there MUST be places in J-town, or Torrance, with more extensive sake menus (I think both Gen and Izayoi have ten or so on their menu) but without a "sommelier" ( for what is, really, essentially, a superior form of beer) and the accompanying added cost.

So, who's been where, and who's got the killer sake lists?

  1. You know there were a couple of restaurants that I have visited that had pretty decent sake menus, one was Yuu on Sawtelle, they had a pretty good selection of sake (most were a bit on the expensive side though...then again, you get what you pay for!) and the other is Japon Bistro in Pasadena.

asanebo in Studio City used to have a pretty extensive selection.

        1. Geisha House, although pretentious and mediocre, food wise, has a good sake selection and a pretty knowledgeably sommalier.

          1. Haven't been, but Japonica in South Redondo has a fine list (do a google search)

Celedon on Third & Fairfax is supposed to have an extensive sake list...I think they even do "sake flights." Haven't checked it out yet, but it's definitely on my list!
