Who serves chocolate fondue?

A friend is coming to Boston on Saturday with her daughter and three friends to celebrate her 16th birthday. Where can we go for chocolate fondue ? I've suggested the Chocolate Buffet at the Langham -but that is steep at $30 each.

  1. I think the last time I had it was at Laurel. That was more than a year ago, and their dessert menu doesn't appear to be online, so I'd confirm with them before heading over if that's the point of the trip.

    1. If you don't mind bringing an underaged party to a place that is as much a bar as a restaurant, you might find the B-Side Lounge has a chocolate fondue on its current dessert menu (I'd call to check). In general, the food is very good (kind of creative comfort food), and the grownups can enjoy some extraordinary bartending.

I would have loved to be taken to that kind of place on my 16th birthday. (Of course, in those days, we'd have had to walk five miles uphill both ways through a blinding snowstorm for a chocolate fondue. Back then, cole slaw was known as "victory cabbage", and we didn't have any of your so-called "video games"....)

      1. The Temple Bar on Mass Ave in Cambridge has a good and generously proportioned one, with slices of fruit and pound cake (caveat: last tried about a year ago). I think I slightly preferred it to the B-side version, although that might be due to the fact that the last time I was at the B-side I ruined a shirt with chocolate fondue trails... :) Are you planning to have dinner as well? Temple bar is quieter than the B-side, but it can still get fairly packed on Saturday nights. You might want to aim for late afternoon...

        1. I went to Taza's Chocolate Lounge, and they had pretty good fondue. But they only do it out of mariposa bakery in Central on Thursday evenings, so if she's staying that long it's a good option. Here's a thread about it:

          1. Probably too late, but for future reference, I was at Les Zygomates on Friday night after dinner at O Ya and someone in my party ordered the chocolate fondue. I didn't try it so I can't say how it was (though she seemed pleased) but they do have it on the menu.
