Drink/nosh by CalTech after a Saturday show..

I will be attending a show at CalTech in Pasadena in April. My friend and I want to go someplace after the show for a drink and light bite, but not too loud that we can't hear ourselves talk. We're from out of town so I have no point of reference. Any suggestions??

Magnolia is definitely a good choice, and great for people watching, esp. if you run out of things to talk about, but it can get pretty crowded and kinda loud on a Saturday night (kinda a given on Sat. night). ...possibly quieter atmosphere you might try Madeleines bar or wine bar in separate rooms, north of CalTech on Green Street. http://www.madeleinesrestaurant.com/W...

I'm sure this is a silly question, but does Madeleine's also serve beer??

They have two separate bar areas, the wine bar and a full bar, so I'm assuming yes on the beer. ( I don't drink beer, we had wine, so really didn't notice).

Magnolia is a good rec as rickym13 mentions, but it might be a bit loud.

Just up the street on Lake Ave. is Smitty's Grill which would be a good option as well. www.smittysgrill.com
