Wally's American Pub 'n Grille (PHX)

Anyone tried this place yet? It's right down the road from me, but I have yet to check it out.

  1. I can't claim its great and sometimes it is downright rotten (cold fries at the end of the night), but usually I am quite happy to have fish n chips on my lunch break.

What else is good at Wally's? How about Taylor's nextdoor/nearby?

yep, agreed, taylor's is a great arcadia hangout on weekends for breakfast. their egg white omelette with a side of cottage cheese is super healthy! my one complaint is the size of their drinks - if i'm paying $7 for a mimosa or bloody mary, i want a bigger size than they serve. a small quibble though - the place is consistently good.

It's two totally differnt kind of places... Taylors is for breakfast or brunch... and yes, it is expensive. But the food is excellent. I love the poached eggs.
Wally's is a pub with great pub food. Not bar food mind you... real food. I've never been disappointed but the staff is so good that I'm sure if I did complain they'd make it right. The owner, Wally is almost always there. And you can bet if you do order a beer, it will be a good (aka import) beer and cold.

      2. Finally tried this place today after golf...
Had a nice cup of black bean and ham soup on special, which was very good (albeit salty, thanks to the smoked ham). Also ordered the grilled portobello and mozzarella panini, which I won't do again; the ciabatta didn't stand a chance holding up to the ingredients. The highlight on the plate, was the sweet potato fries. Whoever keeps talking about them on this board might want to swing by and try them.
Really like that they have Sierra Nevada and Harp on draft, so I will definitely be back; the menu looked interesting and I'd try it for dinner.

We have been a few times for dinner at Wally's. The service has always been good and they have remembered us when we have gone in which I appreciate. I have had a good prime rib there, chicken dish and their apple pie a la mode is also tasty. I think it is a comfortable neighborhood place to grab a beer and relax.

        2. dropping in some place links for my own benefit...

Taylor's is good, but only open til 5:30. for breakfast and lunch.

I like Wally's, food is consistently good, especially the french onion soup, Chicken marsala, and sometimes the meatloaf.

service is good, if somewhat reserved. while I like the place, and eat there every couple of months, I never feel like I got a great deal, just alittle over priced
