We will be going to Crispo for dinner on Saturday night - any suggested places for drinks afterwards? (preferably within walking distance of Crispo...) thanks!

    Flatiron Lounge

Check out APT; or any of the bars in either the Gansevoort Hotel or The Maritime Hotel in the Meatpacking District. All have great drinks.

        Flatiron Lounge will be a hefty schlep (14th and 8th to 19th b/t 5th & 6th).

Art Bar is closer, 8th Ave just below 13th.

Hudson Bar & Books is also nice, Hudson just below Horatio.

Cielo on Little West 12th is sort of a clubby club, but very pretty inside.

Flatiron Lounge is much closer to 6th Ave than 5th. I'm not sure how 5 blocks and 2 aves can be considered a "hefty schlep"

Hi - Thanks for the suggestions. Is APT good for a quiet drink, or would Flatiron Lounge be better suited for that? We are looking for something maybe medium quiet - not as quiet as a hotel bar, but certainly not a 'club' like atmosphere....thanks!

Flatiron is definitely not a club like atmosphere, but it can be crowded depending on when you go. Haven't been to APT.

None of the suggestions I gave are "quiet," even those at the hotels. APT is perfect for what you're looking for...it's intimate, very chicly designed and good drinks...it's definately medium quiet. I would also check out "Cabana" at The Maritime Hotel. Let me know if you have more questions. :)

In heels it's awful. Flatiron is pretty smack dab in the middle of the block. I work right around the corner from Flatiron and walk that route (all the way past Crispo) to get to the subway after work. 2 crosstown blocks and 5 uptown/downtown blocks is almost a mile. I've also had much better cocktails for $15 than the ones at Flatiron, I've never gone there and not had a drink topple on a tray and poured in my lap by the staff or been charged for things my party didn't order ending the evening with a squabble over the bill....or even better charged for the drink that ended up in my lap AND the one they bring to replace it!

APT looks good but I have read the odd thing about buzzers, unmarked entrance, etc. It doesn't seem like it was the velvet rope deal it was a few years ago, so can I just hit the buzzer and they'll let us in? (I don't want to be humiliated during my New York weekend....thanks!)

True, the Meatpacking district is crazy on a Saturday night, but this place is NOT. It's a sanctuary! I've never had to use a buzzer, either.

Your best bet is Little Branch. 20 7th ave south. It's not a long walk (about 10 blocks due south).

Help yourself and don't try getting a drink in the Meat Packing district on a Saturday night. It will be far too crowded.

Flat Iron Lounge isn't a bad pick either.

'honey' is pretty much right there. 14th btwn 7th & 8th... haven't been, but looked sufficiently lounge-y without the velvet ropes everytime i passed by.

Ah yes, I pass that place all the time and it does look nice. I haven't been either.

its crowdy on weekends, but yes honey is the kind of place the op is looking for. its right across the street from crispo. ive been in a few times, its fine. just ok standard drinks.

otherwise, on the same side of the street as crispo are woody mchales tavern for guinness or el rey for margaritas. also, the old nell's, i dk what its called now, but its a club that is still going strong right next door & they might have something i dk.

just around the corner on 8th ave south of 14th, on the west side of the street, is another club that usually has a line outside the door. funny i live on the block, but i dk the name of that one either, but fyi i guess -- they may have some drink specialty who knows?

one more thing, just west 14th by 9th ave is gin lane, they proport to have nicely made drinks. i know king cocktail himself dale degroff desgined the drink menu, but he does not work there and i understand the execution of the drinks leaves something to be desired. ive only been in once i cant really say.
